BVWS Event Updates

Royal Wootton Bassett 4th July 2021 - CANCELLED

With HUGE REGRET the committee have had to cancel the BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett swap meet and auction that was to take place on 4th July.

The decision has been made for us by the new hall committee, who have decided that they are going to continue with a policy of low numbers allowed in the hall at any one time, regardless of whatever the government suggests beforehand in June.

It's a BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT, we were hoping for a great and well attended event to kick-off our meetings for the remainder of 2021.

RetroTechUK now 26th September 2021

The BVWS committee have made the decision to postpone RetroTechUK (formerly the NVCF) at the Warwickshire Event Centre from 9th May to a new date of SUNDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2021.

Keep your eye on the RetroTechUK website for further details and information. Stall holder booking forms for the rescheduled event are now available to download.

We look forward to seeing you there!

British Vintage Wireless Society

The British Vintage Wireless Society (BVWS) is a society of over 1200 World-wide members sharing a common interest in the preservation and communication of technical and historical data, and the preservation and restoration of Vintage radio and related equipment.

We publish a quarterly Bulletin containing a wide range of restoration and historical articles, photographs of events, Society news etc. This is a high quality publication. A sample bulletin is available on this website.

We hold regular meetings around the UK. Our main event takes place at Harpenden twice a year, with smaller meetings held in Wiltshire, Cheshire and East Sussex. These meetings have stalls selling vintage radio and related items, and often also include a bring-and-buy stall, working displays of vintage equipment, historical presentations and an auction. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices. Take a look at the events diary page for current details.

The Society regularly produces supplements for members, consisting of technical, historic and documentary interest. Over the past few years we have produced (with Copyright permission) CD-ROMs of the Trader Service sheets 1 to 1899, all BVWS Bulletins no longer in print and all editions of 405 Alive magazine, several DVDs containing historic films, plus a number of other paper supplements and our own history book. These are all free to members.

Our Society relies on new membership, new Bulletin articles and new ideas to enable it to flourish and secure its future for generations to come. If you have an interest in collecting and restoring old equipment, or just looking at or listening to old radios, televisions or Hi-Fi, then why not consider becoming a BVWS member.

An application form can be found on the join the BVWS page. You could also contact the Membership Secretary who will be happy to send you a sample Bulletin and answer any questions about the Society.
